WGT respects privacy and keeps information confidential, following California Law, the
National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics and relevant professional
standards for gambling addiction specialists. The purpose of any private information collected is
to provide comprehensive screening/assessment, evaluate program efficacy and for the provision
of clinical care. ‘Private information’ may include contact details, basic demographic
information, details about gambling behavior, mental health, and related psychosocial
information. We store all private information securely, limit access to such information only to
WGT staff who require it for the provision of clinical services. WGT never sell or trade your
personal information.
We may share information from your record without your written permission only if the law
requires or clearly allows it, such as when there is a serious risk of harm to you or others,
suspected abuse or neglect, certain court orders, or audits by oversight agencies. In all other
cases, we will never share your identifiable information with anyone outside our team unless you
give us written permission that explains what will be shared, with whom, and why. You may
revoke that permission in writing at any time.
We may ask clients, including those who receive clinical treatment partially or fully subsidized
by the California Office on Problem Gambling (OPG), if we can use de-identified information
for research or program evaluation. We never use this information without prior written
permission which will explain both how such research/evaluative data will be utilized and how
WGT will protect such confidential information. If a WGT client does deny such consent, this
will not affect access to services, eligibility, or the quality of clinical care received. Our website
may collect basic technical information, like your IP address and cookie data, only to keep the
site safe and working properly. If you have questions about how we use or share your
